We have come a long way since the first employer working group, which was actually established before the SCQF Partnership was in place in October 2005. This was then reconstituted in September 2008 and was responsible for developing our first Employer Engagement strategy. Since then we have used them at various stages to assist with, and comment on, a range of tools for employers.

During 2009-10 we developed our first new guides specifically for employers. These included:

• Would You Credit It?
• The SCQF: A Guide for Employers
• Give Your Staff the Credit They Deserve

During 2010-11 we worked with both the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils and Skills Development Scotland to engage employers directly in using the SCQF. This resulted in a range of projects and also led to some video clips which will be live on our website from October 2011. These feature a range of employers such as Microsoft, Apex Hotels and Momentum Skills, and showcase some of the ways of using the SCQF to support effective recruitment and workforce development.

Later in 2011 we completed work on our Employer Toolkit. This was developed based on the kinds of conversations which took place with employers over the last year and provides them with a set of tools that they can work through and use without our direct support.
