The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework helps education providers, learners, employers and the public in general to understand the full range of Scottish qualifications. It shows how the different types of qualifications relate to each other and how they can contribute to improving skills and knowledge.
As an education provider or adviser, you may be asked to explain the specific features of the Framework, such as SCQF levels and SCQF Credit Points, and its benefits. Programme designers and writers of unit specifications will also need to know about the SCQF Level Descriptors of the Framework. The SCQF Partnership is about to undergo a review of the SCQF Level Descriptors, which you can learn more of here.
You can find tailored information on the Framework for the different types of education provider using the links in the menu on the left.
You can also take a look at the Interactive Framework diagram for more information on the mainstream qualifications available in Scotland.
It may also help you to know that we have produced a number of publications targeting a number of client groups including school-age learners, lifelong learners (16+), parents/carers and employers. Copies are available from the SCQF Executive Team upon request on 0845 270 7371 or you can download publications from our Resources section.
